An Insider's Look at High Point Market

Last week was High Point Market (HPMKT) in High Point, North Carolina. It is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bringing more than 75,000 people to High Point, North Carolina every six months. The saying is, “If you can’t find it in High Point…it probably doesn’t exist.”

Designers Bree Tuttle & Terri Goethe

We had such a great time at HPKMKT and were introduced to so many new products and design trends. We thought you would enjoy an insider’s look of what we saw and what will be coming soon to Angel Oak Home.

Fabrics: Boucle and Sherpa were the fabrics of choice for all vendors. There was also a comeback of cowhide and fur. The Boucle is so soft to sit in and the Sherpa was like lounging in a blanket. Two tone chairs were also the theme. Supple leathers wrapped in hairy cowhide accented by nail heads.

Earth tones were also in ready supply for Market. Lots of soft tones: beige, mushroom taupes, warm browns, and creamy whites marked the landscape. Blue, mossy green, and soft pink seemed to be the colors to use as accents with these soft tones.

Art: Horses, Horses, Horses… Wendover Art expanded their Lillian August collection by adding more equine beauties to their library. Not to be outdone, Left Bank Art did their own series of interesting Bovines…it truly felt as though the West were making a comeback. In addition to these the animal friends, walls were filled with lovely soft landscapes and serene water scenes.

Casegoods:  A beautiful blend of Art Deco inspired and 1960’s Mod was in full force throughout the showrooms. Curved sofas, beds, and accent tables were paired with rustic finished sideboards, and dining tables.

Our favorite find at market was etuHome! We fell in love with their entire collection of simple European designed kitchen tools and accessories. We were giddy at their showroom where their one-of-a-kind bread bowls and carving trays were mixed with their clean white and black charcuterie boards, recipe book stands, and ceramic mixing bowls… a true HPMKT winner for us. They also offer “found” pieces, such as cutting boards that were up to 100 years old and “found” pottery pieces.  We can’t wait to receive some of the pieces we chose for you.

We are adding new lines of furniture and accessories that will give you more options to bring comfort and beauty to your home. We can’t wait to share these with you!”
